About Our Instructor

Jeff has roots in hang gliding that dates back to over 40 years. As a kid flying radio-controlled model gliders, he got in touch with the local Texas hang gliding community which provided him instruction. Jeff learned at the Murchison training site for years, and once proficient flew Packsaddle Mountain and Hippie Hollow.

Jeff’s interest in aviation and flight led him to a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. Jeff worked with Tracor Aerospace until he dedicated himself to becoming a full time hang gliding instructor and guide. Jeff’s operations are in Austin, TX as well as in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, a world renowned soaring destination.

Jeff has built a diverse and fun-loving community around the good times that come with flying. Many years of instructing in the Austin area has led to a healthy flying community in the central Texas region. Jeff's senior students often return to the training hill to help out and share their experience with new students.

Jeff has served six years as a Regional Director for the national USHPA organization representing the Texas and Louisiana regions. During his time on the Board of Directors he organized competitions, opened new sites and managed meetings. Jeff himself competed in cross country and speed gliding events nationally and internationally. Jeff is also passionate about bringing young pilots into the sport and offers help to younger pilots who were interested in flight like him 40 years ago.

Jeff looks forward to flying and sharing flight with many others for years to come.
